Ten individuals lost their lives, among them three minors, following the crash of a private aircraft while attempting an emergency landing in Central Mexico.

Ten individuals, including three underage individuals, lost their lives when a small private jet went down in San Mateo Atenco, located in central Mexico, on Monday, December 15, as reported by local officials.

According to authorities, the plane, which was en route from Acapulco to Toluca, made an attempted emergency landing on a soccer field but collided with an industrial warehouse instead, igniting a fire. This incident took place approximately 32 miles to the west of Mexico City.

The warehouse was said to have housed fuel and gas cylinders, which led emergency responders to evacuate nearby structures as a safety measure. Officials confirmed that around 130 individuals were evacuated from the vicinity.

Adrián Hernández, the Coordinator of Civil Protection for the State of Mexico, stated that all ten deceased were passengers on the aircraft. Firefighters from Toluca and adjacent areas quickly arrived to manage the flames and secure the site.

Eyewitnesses recounted the plane spinning wildly before the blast, which was followed by plumes of dark smoke rising from the location. Emergency photographs revealed a burned soccer field and considerable destruction to the warehouse.

Authorities have initiated an inquiry to ascertain the reasons behind the crash while rescue teams persist in their safety operations. The event has left the local community reeling as officials endeavor to identify the deceased and inform their families.
