Heather Thompson from Waverly, TN passed away following the incident in which she shot and killed both of her sons and her elderly mother in an act of murder.

 WAVERLY, Tenn. — Officials in Humphreys County are looking into a heartbreaking situation following the discovery of four deceased individuals inside a home on East Little Richland Road, which law enforcement is treating as a suspected murder-suicide.

The Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were performing a welfare check at the property when they found the tragic scene. They discovered the remains of two adults and two children within the house. Sheriff Chris Davis clarified that there is no risk to the community and stressed that this case seems to be an isolated event.

Investigators named the woman found in the home as Heather Thompson. Authorities indicated that she had died from an injury believed to be self-inflicted. A firearm was located close to her remains. The two children, identified as Arius “Ari” Thompson, age 5, and Isaiah Thompson, age 13, along with her 83-year-old mother, were also found deceased in the residence. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is aiding the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office in the inquiry into the deaths. Heather Thompson had a military and security service background. She completed her training at the U.S. Army Quartermaster School in Fort Lee, Virginia, in 2011. She worked with Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union 572 and had previously been an Armed Security Captain for the Tennessee Valley Authority. Friends and colleagues characterized her as a diligent and disciplined person, which makes the tragedy even harder for those familiar with her.

In a sorrowful statement made public, the father of the children, Biah Thompson, conveyed his deep sorrow regarding the death of his sons.

“Today has been a day I wouldn’t wish on any other parent,” he shared. “As a father, it crushed my spirit to learn that my sons, Arius and Isaiah, are no longer here. They were just little ones. Every moment today, I wish I could awaken from this nightmare.”

He further mentioned that arrangements for the funerals have yet to be finalized, but he intends to return his sons to New Mexico for the services.

Authorities have not provided additional information as the investigation progresses. Sheriff Davis reiterated that there is no ongoing threat to the public and requested that people steer clear of the area due to the traffic from the ongoing investigation.
