 Celebrity makeup artist and reality television figure Jasen Kaplan has passed away at the age of 46, eliciting tributes from friends and clients within the entertainment sector, including his long-time friend Kelly Osbourne.

He died in New York City on December 31, gaining fame for his work with numerous high-profile figures and appearances on reality TV.

Osbourne announced the sad news through a series of Instagram Stories, referring to Kaplan as one of her dearest friends. "I’m heartbroken. I care about you so much," she expressed, expressing gratitude for the "love, laughter, and happiness" he brought to her life. She reflected on their long-standing friendship, describing Kaplan as "the funniest person" she had ever met and "the ultimate wingman a girl could hope for."

In another post, Osbourne mentioned that she would ensure Kaplan's dog, Coco, "will always be well cared for."

Where and when did he pass away?

As reported by Page Six and The US Sun, Kaplan passed away on Wednesday, December 31, at a hospital in New York City. He was 46 years old.

The New York Police Department confirmed it is looking into the death of a 46-year-old man at the building where Kaplan resided.

Has the reason for his death been identified?

Currently, no specific cause of death has been disclosed.

The NYPD stated that the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will establish the cause, and the inquiry is still active.

Officials have not shared additional information as the investigation progresses.

Television and celebrity makeup career

Kaplan initially received recognition through his work on the reality show Gastineau Girls in 2005. He later emerged as a highly regarded makeup artist, collaborating with various stars including Cyndi Lauper, Eva Longoria, and Lynda Carter.

He also provided makeup services for Tinsley Mortimer’s wedding in 2023 and partnered with Bethenny Frankel on multiple brand campaigns in recent years, according to US Weekly.

In 2016, Kaplan was featured on the dating show Finding Prince Charming, where he was eliminated during the second episode. He went on to establish a significant presence on social media, gathering over 95,000 followers on Instagram, where he posted makeup advice, showcased celebrity collaborations, and shared many posts featuring his dog Coco.
