Authorities and relatives have confirmed the tragic news that Miguel Angel Gastelum, a 29-year-old individual associated with Columbia, South Carolina, has been found dead after a thorough search across multiple states. Miguel had gone missing in late December, sparking deep concern among his family and a broad response from the community.
The last sighting of Miguel occurred on December 31, 2025, at around 6:20 p.m. in the 4200 block of Meadow Lane, Bossier City, Louisiana, while he was en route from Columbia, South Carolina, to Lufkin, Texas. His family had communicated with him earlier that day around 2:20 p.m. in Louisiana time. It was subsequently discovered that Miguel was without his mobile phone and may have been confused, heightening worries regarding his well-being.
Law enforcement bodies, such as the Bossier City Police Department and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, collaborated on search initiatives while community members utilized social media and Crime Stoppers to disseminate alerts and provide leads. Residents from various states sent prayers and messages of encouragement while family members anxiously awaited updates.
Unfortunately, on the morning of January 2, 2026, Miguel’s remains were found at approximately 7:12 a.m., about an hour away from the last known location of his vehicle. Authorities have not disclosed any additional information at this point.
Miguel, born on January 26, 1996, is remembered as a caring, gentle, and kind-hearted person. He is survived by his one-year-old daughter, five-year-old stepdaughter, his partner Diamond, his mother Florine, his sister Raquel, and numerous mourning family and friends.
Although his life was tragically ended too soon, the love and light Miguel brought into the world will always be cherished. Forever loved. Forever remembered.
