Late Sunday afternoon in the 1000 block of Sycamore Street, Humboldt, Kan. is mourning the terrible loss of John Paul, who passed away after a fatal shooting. As they try to accept the unexpected and meaningless death of a beloved member of their community, family, friends, and neighbors are grief-stricken from the terrible event.
Responds to reports of shots fired shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday, police found Mr. Paul with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was taken by ambulance to Allen County Regional Hospital, where he thereafter died from his wounds. Emergency workers drove him. The tight-knit Humboldt community has been shaken by the abruptness of the event.
After a multiagency search including the Kansas Highway Patrol, Humboldt Police Department, and Allen County Sheriff's Office, law enforcement officials confirmed a suspect was arrested later that evening. As the inquiry goes on, the suspect and two others were caught south of Moran and brought to the Allen County Jail.
