Josh Vanden Branden Obituary Announcement: Cherished Navy veteran, Josh Vanden Branden has Died

Josh Vanden Branden — a cherished Navy veteran, faithful friend, and committed family man — has died. His absence is profoundly felt by his shipmates, friends, and relatives, who recall him for his wit, steadfastness, and the vibrant spirit he infused into every situation.

From his days serving on the USS Truman to the numerous years with those he cared about, Josh left a significant impact on all who crossed his path. Throughout his tenure in the U.S. Navy, he was acknowledged for his robust work ethic, leadership qualities, and encouraging personality.

A former shipmate expressed their emotions and memories, stating:

“Discovering that someone you served alongside has died is always heartbreaking. It’s even more painful when it’s one of your 'Sea-Pups.' VB was one of my Work Center Supervisors during our time on the U.S.S. Truman. The last occasion I saw him was a decade ago when Kevin Keeling and I put together an all-Navy team of revelers for Ragnar Hill Country in 2015. He was one of our most formidable runners on the team.

Josh Vanden Branden… Wishing Fair Winds and Following Seas.”

Another dear friend, Travis Uptegrove, shared his feelings about their friendship:

“This truly stings. From our times being foolish together in the Navy to reuniting every year at our retreat, I have never encountered a more sincere individual than Josh Vanden Branden. He consistently uplifted others, spread love to everyone around him, and always had a knack for making me laugh. Being near Josh made it impossible to feel down.

I find myself reminiscing about countless stories we've shared — they bring laughter and then tears. Josh was more than a friend; he was a brother, a motivator to strive to be a better husband and father, and to show love to others more profoundly.

Josh had a deep love for Jesus and held his family dear to his heart. This isn’t a farewell — it’s more of ‘I’ll see you again later.’”

Those who served with Josh depict him as reliable, optimistic, and perpetually willing to assist. His legacy of compassion, leadership, and steadfast positivity will keep motivating all those fortunate enough to have known him.

Obituary and funeral arrangements for Josh Vanden Branden will be shared by his family at a later date.
