 HAMPTON, N.H. — The Hampton Police Department is looking into a devastating e-scooter accident involving a single vehicle that resulted in the death of 34-year-old Joseph Pepin, a resident of Hampton and previously from Westford, Massachusetts, during the weekend.

This sorrowful event took place early on Saturday, November 8, 2025, when law enforcement was alerted around 12:54 a.m. regarding an individual found lying on the ground near Ashworth Avenue and G Street. Upon their arrival, emergency responders discovered a man—identified later as Pepin—who was unresponsive and not breathing. Unfortunately, despite the attempts by emergency personnel, he was pronounced dead at the site.

Investigators have reported that Pepin was riding his e-scooter on the sidewalk heading north along Ashworth Avenue when he lost control and collided with something. Authorities have stated that there were no other vehicles involved in the incident and mentioned that Pepin was not wearing a helmet at the moment of the crash.

Hampton Police Chief Alex Reno shared a message of condolence from the department:

“This is an extremely regrettable and tragic incident. Our condolences go out to Mr. Pepin’s family and friends during this period.”
