Thomas Lorenz St. Louis, MO Passing, Notice: SSP 7th Grader, Thomas Lorenz Has Passed Away Following a Brave Fight Against Leukemia

 It is with deep sadness that we announce the tragic news regarding the death of Thomas Lorenz, a 7th-grade student at SSP (‘27), who bravely fought against leukemia. Thomas was the adored son of Joe Lorenz and CarolAnne Renick Lorenz (‘01), a kindergarten teacher at SSP, and the beloved sibling of John (‘26), Cora (‘29), and Lucy (‘34). He was also the treasured grandson of Diana and Rick Sollmann, as well as Joan and Tim Lorenz, and the cherished nephew of Katie (‘02), Joey (‘08), Jack (‘12), Christian, Noelle Renick, Mitchell (‘09), and Shannon Sollmann.

Known affectionately as Super Thomas, he inspired everyone he encountered with his bravery, determination, and steadfast affection. Even when faced with significant obstacles, his intellect, kindness, humor, and vibrant spirit were evident, leaving a lasting mark on friends, family, and the wider community. He possessed an extraordinary talent for lifting the spirits of those around him, exhibiting strength, elegance, and positivity that belied his age.

In recent years, Thomas’s journey profoundly affected the lives of hundreds, if not thousands. The encouragement received from friends, neighbors, and even unfamiliar individuals throughout the state highlighted the influence of his courage and compassion. However, it was truly Thomas who exemplified inspiration—radiating bravery, love, and resolve day in and day out.

Although his time with us was far too brief, Thomas imparted essential lessons on resilience, community, and the significance of hope to everyone he encountered. His memory will be eternally treasured by all who had the privilege to know him, and his legacy will endure through the many lives he impacted.
