Xay Xay Obituary Death Announcement: Springfield Community Grieves for Young Life Taken in Fatal Shooting at The 505 Apartment Complex

 SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The local community of Springfield is mourning following a heartbreaking incident on Wednesday night, which resulted in the death of a young male and injuries to a woman at The 505 Apartment Complex located on East St. Louis Street, near the Discovery Center.

As reported by the Springfield Police Department (SPD), officers were dispatched at about 11:21 p.m. in response to gunfire reports. When they reached the scene, they found two individuals affected—a woman outside the building with a gunshot wound that is not life-threatening, and a man, later identified as Xay Xay, who was discovered deceased on the fourth floor of the building.

Officials suspect that both individuals were in their twenties. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital for medical care and is anticipated to make a full recovery.

The 505 Apartment Complex, which mainly accommodates students, swiftly became a location of extensive police activity as investigators worked throughout the night to collect evidence and speak with witnesses.

Residents recounted the frantic moments that followed the gunfire. “I was really unsure about what was happening. I had no idea — I called my roommate, and he filled me in. It was quite a wild situation,” stated Malachi Vincent, a resident of The 505.

Detectives are currently working to reconstruct the sequence of events that led to the shooting and to determine if the victims were acquainted with the suspect. As of Thursday morning, no one has been taken into custody, and law enforcement continues to seek the person responsible for the incident.
